Cloud monitoring

To monitor the Community Cloud testbed, SmokePing 2.6 [1] software is installed. Smokeping tracks the network latency and the availability of the hosts, with the possibility to add alerts to some events.

    • Purpose: Support experimentation and permanent cloud services in Guifi.

Community Cloud Guifi

ICTP-1, ICTP-2 and INESC nodes are currently DOWN

Community Clouds UPC and KTH

These clouds are deployed with the Openstack software. They consists in two Clouds deployed in KTH and one in UPC.

Deployment in Community-lab

We use the CONFINE's Community-Lab testbed which provides testbed nodes in the Guifi.net community network to which we have deployed additional devices, i.e. servers and community boxes, for experiments with community clouds.

Below you can see a list of nodes running an experiment with different Cloudy distribution instances.

Business Cloud Castelldefels

  • 2 Rack-based servers with air-conditioning support.
    • Type: 2x Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU @ 3,00GHz - 16 GB RAM - 1 TB disk.
    • Purpose: Support experimentation.
  • - Razor: 147.83.118.124 / 10.228.206.42 - Located in Castelldefels city, UPC EETAC Campus.
  • - Gaius: 147.83.118.125 / 10.228.206.40 - Located in Castelldefels city, UPC EETAC Campus.
  • Razor contains 4 hard-disks with 256 MB each, configured in RAID 0.
  • Gaius contains 4 hard disks with 128 MG each, configured in RAID 10.

Some of the Community Boxes are registered in the main Confine Controller, some are registered on other instances of the Confine controller. The next figures illustrates four slices in three Confine Research Devices. In this example a p2p experiment runs in slice 112233445566 and LXC drivers for Open Nebula in 223344556677 slice are tested.
